Welcome to my webpage. Jeff, Val, and I lived in Truckee, CA for sixteen years, then moved to Minden, NV in January 2011 to start our Rancho Pequeño. Many of our adventures with high-altitude gardening, raising chickens, and just about everything else is within the pages of this site. It's my intention to inspire my readers and give useful information. Hope you have fun exploring. Here is what's behind the buttons on the navigation bar:
Bookstore:
Read a couple of samples from my poetry book, When the Horses Come and Go, available through amazon.com. Or, if you prefer novels, check out a description, sample chapter and purchasing information for Paradise Ridge by clicking the link on Bookstore. There're also links to book club discussion topics, my favorite resources for this book, and reviews.
Gardens:
Narration and pictures describe our challenges and solutions to growing vegetables at 7000 feet altitude.
House:
We're proud of our strange little earth-bermed house. You'll learn how things like "thermal mass," "passive solar," and "radiant heat" can improve day-to-day living, all without a lot of moving parts.
Highway 395:
Acquaint yourself with information on lodgings, eateries and campgrounds along this gorgeous highway.
Nevada:
You'll be surprised at the beauty of America's Outback: the Great Basin regions of Nevada. Raves:
Enjoy the views from the Hobbit House: essays on whatever strikes my fancy. I invite your comments, too.
